Ideas, inspiration and the latest stories about our work.
Here at Inca we like to keep up to date with the latest creative trends so it can inform our designs. The following web trends have been key considerations in our web design this year:
Mobile first design: A recent survey by smartinsights found that mobile phones had a 61% share of total digital minutes. This means it is now essential for businesses to have a responsive website. We now concentrate as much on how a website will look on a mobile as on a desktop computer.
Good Typography: With increased resolutions and responsive design, typography is becoming more important.
Photocentric menus: Clickable images are increasingly being used instead of text The key to pulling this off is to keep everything clean and simple and let the images to the talking.
Authentic photography: While photo library images have their place, they can be over used and make a website look too generic.
Subtle Animation: The latest genre of high-end websites are enhanced by the use of subtle effects. Forget dramatic slides, clunky page builds, and excessive parallax images everywhere, these smooth, understated features are classy and add another dimension to your website, lifting above the ordinary.
Increased negative space: The use of white space seems to be making a comeback. We are fully embracing this because we love clean and clear design schemes. You can see how we used this technique in our recent website re-design for S&C Slatter.
